Read the guideA butter squishy is a soft, slow-rising foam toy shaped like a stick or block of butter. Squeeze it, let go, and it takes several seconds to return to its original shape. It belongs to the wider squishy toy category and is made as a sensory and desk toy, recommended for ages 14 and up. Our guide What Is a Butter Squishy? tells the full story.
Most butter squishies are made of soft polyurethane (PU) foam, the slow-rise foam used across the squishy category, with a crackled outer shell that crunches lightly when squeezed. A few designs in our catalog use a translucent gel or a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) instead. The exact material is listed on each product page.
Slow-rise foam returns gradually after a squeeze, but recovery time varies with the specific item and conditions. We have not published a timed test across the catalog, so a fixed number of seconds is not a measured specification. The Translucent gel design is moldable rather than slow-rising.
Check the specific listing for scent information. Food-inspired names and colors do not mean a toy is scented or edible. If fragrance sensitivity matters to you and the listing does not state whether it is scented, contact us before ordering; do not assume it is fragrance-free.
The short version
A butter squishy is a slow-rise foam toy shaped and printed like a stick of butter. Squeeze it and the crackled shell gives under your fingers; let go and the polyurethane foam takes ten to fifteen seconds to push itself back into shape. It is a sensory and desk toy, recommended for ages 14 and up, and never something to eat. The full story is in our guide What Is a Butter Squishy?
The 4oz Classic is the standard format: about 13.5 cm and 113 g, in plain colors, marbles and prints, from $10.99. The 14oz jumbo is the same foam at three and a half times the weight, for a slower rise and a two-handed squeeze. Packs of 3 and 12 cover a classroom, a party or a collection; blind boxes draw one print at random from a themed set; and kitchen squishies add toast, cheese, chocolate and cake slices to the shelf. Sizes and weights are compared in How Big Do Butter Squishies Get?

Wipe a butter squishy with a damp cloth, never submerge it, and keep it away from heat and direct sun. Throw it away if it tears, because loose foam is a choking hazard for small children and pets, who may also mistake it for real food. All of this, and what to do if an order arrives damaged, is on the Safety Information page and in the FAQ.
