Butter Squishy sells food-shaped desk toys recommended for ages 14 and up. Most use slow-rise PU foam; specific designs use moldable gel or TPE. They are shaped like butter, toast, cake and other foods, but they are not edible, and they are not designed for children under 3 because small parts can come loose. This page covers materials, age guidance, safe use, care, and what to do if a squishy is damaged.

What are Butter Squishy toys made of?

Most products in the catalog are made of soft polyurethane (PU) foam, the slow-rise foam used across the squishy category. It compresses under light pressure and returns to shape over several seconds. A few designs use other materials, such as a translucent gel or a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). The exact material for each product is listed on its product page, under the facts strip and in the Specifications tab.

Check the product listing for scent information. If fragrance sensitivity matters to you and the listing does not specify it, contact us before ordering.

Who are butter squishies for?

Butter Squishy sells and markets its products as sensory and desk toys for teens and adults. The recommended user age is 14 and up. They are not intended for children under 3: foam pieces, printed elements or a loosened shell can become small parts and pose a choking hazard. You must be 18 or older to place an order.

Keep squishies out of reach of young children and pets. Both may mistake a butter or cake squishy for food.

Is a butter squishy food?

No. A butter squishy is not food and is never edible. The realistic look is the whole point of the toy, so it is worth saying plainly: do not put a squishy in your mouth, do not bite or chew it, and do not store it with food. If a piece of foam is swallowed, contact a doctor or poison control.

How do I use a butter squishy safely?

  • Squeeze it with your hands. Do not cut it, pierce it, or stretch it far beyond its shape.
  • Keep it away from heat sources, open flames, radiators and direct sunlight. Do not leave it in a hot car.
  • Keep it dry. Water soaks into the foam and can cause mold inside the toy.
  • Do not use it as a pillow, a bath toy, a pet toy, or a teether.
  • Stop using it if the surface tears, if the foam starts to crumble, or if the printed layer peels.

What should I do if a squishy tears or crumbles?

Throw it away. A torn squishy sheds small pieces of foam, which are a choking hazard for small children and pets. If your order arrived torn, crushed, or different from what you ordered, contact us within 30 days of delivery with your order number and a photo. We cover the return shipping in that case and send a replacement or a full refund, your choice. The full procedure is on the Return Policy page.

How do I clean a butter squishy?

Wipe the surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Use a small amount of mild soap only if there is a visible mark, then wipe again with clean water and let the toy air-dry fully before squeezing it or storing it. Do not submerge it, do not put it in a washing machine or a dryer, and do not use alcohol, bleach or solvent cleaners. Our guide How to Clean a Butter Squishy goes into more detail.

What safety standards apply?

The shop recommends these products for ages 14 and up. An age recommendation is not a testing or certification claim. We do not claim that this label alone establishes a product’s regulatory classification or compliance. If you need documentation for a specific product or use, contact us before ordering and we will tell you what we can and cannot provide.
